NEXT is an 18+ community for branching, user-created fiction. Stories can get dark, strange, violent, romantic, or sexually explicit. That's part of the territory.
There are still lines we don't cross.

NEXT is intended for people 18 years of age and older.
If you are under 18, please don't use the service or submit content here.
What you can write
NEXT is designed for creative freedom. Depending on the story, that can include:
- Adult relationships and romance
- Sexually explicit adult fiction
- Profanity and mature language
- Horror and disturbing themes
- Fictional violence
- Dark, controversial, or uncomfortable fictional subjects
Content may still be rejected by our automated safety systems even when it appears fictional. Automated moderation is a safety layer, not a perfect judge of literary intent.
What isn't allowed
Some subjects are off limits regardless of whether they are presented as fiction.
- Sexual content involving minors
- Child sexual exploitation or abuse
- Sexualized depictions of children
- Content that facilitates or encourages real-world violent wrongdoing
- Serious threats directed at real people
- Content intended to facilitate exploitation or abuse
- Other content prohibited by applicable law
How moderation works
New story openings and story continuations are checked by automated safety systems before they are published.
If something is rejected, you'll be told that it couldn't be submitted and given the opportunity to edit it and try again.
Our moderation systems can make mistakes. A blocked submission does not necessarily mean that we believe you intended to violate these guidelines.
Use some judgment
NEXT is a shared creative space. Don't use it to publish someone's private information, impersonate people, or deliberately target another person with abusive content.
You are responsible for what you submit. If you're not sure whether something belongs here, leave it out.
We may remove content
We may remove stories, branches, or accounts that violate these guidelines or create a meaningful risk to the community or service.
We may also update these guidelines as NEXT evolves.
